We have one of the largest horizontal infrastructure teams in the South Island working in the maintenance, civil, and water industry. The work we do strengthens the communities we work and play in, with several key long term maintenance contracts throughout the Canterbury region and several civil projects currently being completed throughout the South Island.

About the role | Ko te kaupapa

As an Arborist, you will be responsible for overseeing all arboriculture operations, including work carried out by third-party contractors. In this role, you’ll manage all aspects of arboricultural operations, including pruning, planting, and tree removal, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies. You’ll inspect and maintain tree health, coordinate resources, oversee equipment checks, and maintain accurate records. A strong focus on health and safety, professional conduct, and effective team leadership is essential.

What you’ll bring | Ko ngā pukenga ōu

Experience

You’ll bring strong knowledge of arboriculture principles, tree maintenance practices, and safety standards. Proficiency with both hand and power tools is essential, along with the ability to climb, tie knots, and identify tree species, pests, and diseases. This role requires planning and supervising work effectively, maintaining physical fitness for the demands of the job, and fostering professional relationships with clients and the public while representing the company’s best interests

Qualifications

  •        NZQA Certificate in Horticulture Level 4 – Arboriculture
  •         Full Class 1 Driver Licence (essential)
  •        Level 3 Qualified Arborist with at least two years’ experience in arboriculture
  •        Class 2 Driver Licence (desirable)
  •        Grow Safe Certificate (desirable)
  •       Traffic Control Level 1 or STMS (desirable)
