We have one of the largest horizontal infrastructure teams in the South Island working in the maintenance, civil, and water industry. The work we do strengthens the communities we work and play in, with several key long term maintenance contracts throughout the Canterbury region and a number of civil projects currently being completed throughout the South Island.
About the role | Ko te kaupapa
Corde is currently seeking a suitably experienced Assistant Accountant to join its Finance team. Based at the Rolleston Head Office. This role plays an integral part of the wider team that is responsible for overseeing accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, stock, fixed assets, and payroll to ensure accuracy and the smooth execution of daily financial operations.
The position also supports the maintenance of the asset register and provides accurate financial information and analysis to internal stakeholders, ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.

Experience
A minimum of five years’ proven experience in accounting or business management is required. Experience with SAP, Workbench, and Data-pay is highly regarded, as is prior exposure to a contracting or project-based environment. Holding, or actively working towards, CA or CPA qualifications is considered an advantage and demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of relevant financial reporting requirements and applicable legislation
- Proven ability to analyze and interpret data using critical and analytical thinking
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other standard business systems
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships while representing the company’s interests at all times
- Exposure to emerging AI technologies and tools
- Clear, confident verbal and written communication skills across internal and external stakeholders
