The work we do strengthens the communities we work and play in, with several key long term maintenance contracts throughout the Canterbury region and a number of civil projects currently being completed throughout the South Island.
About the role | Ko te kaupapa
We have a busy forward work program and are looking for a Foreman with strong leadership skills to join our frontline team. You will have good knowledge of road construction methodology and standard specifications as well as proven experience in the construction of roading and pavements over poor performing subgrades.
You will have proven site management experience with a successful performance record of running site teams and delivering excellence. You will be leading the crew specialising in stabilisation and pavement construction so you will need to be proficient in this type of work and in operating all the machinery involved.
You will demonstrate a high level of skill as a grader operator on small to large scale roading and formation projects. You will also undertake a wide range of drainage works, along with other miscellaneous road maintenance activities from time to time.
You enjoy the work you do and genuinely take pride in a job well done, you know how to motivate your team to work to a high standard and share in the successes of your teams’ efforts. It is important that you are hands on and happy to mentor other team members when required. These are essential skills to be successful in this position and a leader within our business.
What you will bring | Ko ngā pukenga ōu
- Experience leading a team within Roading Construction or Maintenance (essential)
- Multi skilled in the operation of excavators and other construction plant (advantageous)
- WTR endorsements (essential)
- Class 2 and 4 Driver Licence (essential)
- Class 5 Driver Licence (preferred)
- STMS (preferred – training can be provided for the right candidate)
- Physically fit and initiative-taking
- Health and Safety conscious with a positive attitude
