The Selwyn District has experienced significant growth in recent years, and with that growth comes the need for robust infrastructure and capable leadership. We are now looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead wastewater operations across our treatment plants and reticulation networks.

This is a key leadership role focused on both day-to-day delivery and long-term outcomes. You will be responsible for managing resources, driving efficiency, ensuring compliance and safety, and maintaining high standards of service. Your role will focus on leading a high-performing team, fostering a positive and safety-first culture, and working collaboratively with contract managers, subcontractors, clients, and local authorities.

What you’ll bring | Ko ngā pukenga ōu

We are looking for someone with at least 10 years’ experience in wastewater operations, a Level 4 or higher qualification in Wastewater Treatment and/or Reticulation, and strong leadership skills. You will also bring:

  • In-depth knowledge of wastewater treatment, plant operations, and local authority maintenance contract standards
  • Strong understanding of compliance, health and safety, and environmental regulations
  • The ability to develop and implement effective resourcing planning and workforce strategies
  • Experience with maintenance contract scope, asset responsibilities, and long-term planning
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and time management skills
  • The ability to build trusted relationships across all levels, with clear and confident communication
  • Experience navigating change, managing performance, and creating a culture where people thrive
