About the Role | Mō te tūnga
As our project portfolio continues to expand, we are seeking a commercially focused Project Controls Manager to strengthen our planning, forecasting, and commercial risk management capabilities.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Project Controls Manager will maintain a division-wide master program and ensure it is fully integrated with commercial forecasting and risk processes. This is a commercially aligned planning and reporting position, not a site-based operational delivery role. You’ll play a key part in driving time and cost performance visibility, enabling informed, data-driven decision-making across the project lifecycle.
Key Interfaces
- Strand Managers – for portfolio-level program alignment
- Project Managers – to support programming and commercial reporting
- Operations Manager – to resolve high-level resource constraints
- Project Administrator – to maintain system consistency and data accuracy
Key Responsibilities
Program Oversight
- Own and maintain the division-wide master program in MS Project
- Provide clear visibility of timelines, dependencies, and delivery risks
Commercial Planning Support
- Work closely with Project Managers to develop a project program
- Support cost-to-complete analysis, commercial forecasting, and claim preparation
- Ensure time-based data is aligned with financial planning and cash flow projections
Risk Identification & Reporting
- Identify commercial risks arising from delays, resource constraints, or critical path shifts
- Provide early-warning insights to support governance reviews and proactive decision-making
Cost–Time Integration
- Align program updates with Workbench, financial reports, and commercial forecasts
- Ensure time data underpins accurate revenue recognition, accruals, and reporting
Governance & Controls
- Contribute to internal project reviews and governance forums
- Monitor performance against program baselines with a focus on time-based commercial risk
What You’ll Bring | Ko ngā pūkenga ōu
- 5+ years in a project controls, commercial, or planning role (e.g. QS, planner, or commercial manager)
- Strong proficiency in MS Project and Excel
- Sound understanding of NZS 3910 and contractual risk principles
- Experience in civil infrastructure or asset maintenance preferred
- Commercially astute, with strong analytical and communication skills
- Proactive and organised, with the ability to manage inputs across multiple stakeholders and projects
