We are seeking an experienced Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our Water Services team based at the Pines Wastewater Treatment Plant in Rolleston, Canterbury. In this role, you will be responsible for a range of activities, including:

  • Treatment process assessment
  • Laboratory testing
  • Scheduled checks/maintenance of pumps and other mechanical equipment
  • Operation of water separation processes
  • Fault/breakdown identification and rectification
  • Installation of new wastewater supplies

The successful applicant will need to be willing to learn, have a positive outlook, and lots of energy, as this is a physically demanding role. You will also need to be safety-conscious, have the ability to learn quickly, follow instructions, and take direction.

What you’ll bring | Ko ngā pukenga ōu

  • Background in Wastewater or Level 4 Wastewater Qualification (advantageous)
  • Class 1 Driver Licence (essential)
  • Mechanically minded, as the role consists of mechanical repairs
  • Open to working outside regular business hours if required (weekends, public holidays, after hours) for scheduled maintenance, on-call needs, or emergencies.
  • Physically fit, motivated, and able to work independently
  • Health & safety conscious with a positive attitude
