With Selwyn being the fastest-growing district in the country, the Council is committed to investing in infrastructure for the long-term. The crucial role of underground infrastructure was emphasised – often unnoticed, yet vital for the community.

The Ellesmere to Pines Wastewater Pipeline project is the Council’s largest capital expenditure and is set to future-proof the Selwyn District Council network, supporting the district’s rapid growth and meeting modern environmental standards.

CORDE Chief Executive David Wilson highlighted the complexities of the project, including two river crossings and the construction of new pump stations at Ellesmere Wastewater Treatment Plant and Upper Selwyn Huts. “It’s an exciting job, a good challenge with really positive outcomes for our local communities.”
