About the role | Ko te kaupapa

As a Trainee Arborist, you will support day‑to‑day arboriculture operations under the guidance of qualified arborists and supervisors. You will assist with a variety of tree care activities, including pruning, planting, and removals, while learning to work safely and effectively in accordance with New Zealand industry standards and company procedures.

This role provides hands‑on exposure to arboriculture practices, including monitoring tree health, assisting with equipment inspections, and learning safe work methods, particularly when working at heights. You will observe and support coordination with external contractors as required, while developing an understanding of operational planning and compliance.

A strong emphasis is placed on health and safety, professionalism, teamwork, and record‑keeping, as you progress through structured on‑the‑job training. This traineeship supports your development toward a New Zealand Certificate in Arboriculture (Level 4) and offers an excellent foundation for a long‑term career in the arboriculture industry.

We are seeking a motivated individual with a genuine interest in Arboriculture and an understanding of its core principles. You will enjoy working as part of a team and be comfortable working at heights in a physically demanding, outdoor environment.

This traineeship offers the opportunity to work towards the New Zealand Certificate in Arboriculture (Level while gaining hands‑on experience that aligns with NZ industry standards.

To succeed in this role, you will be dependable, punctual, and safety‑focused, with a teachable attitude and a strong work ethic. You will be keen to learn, open to instruction, and committed to developing the practical and technical skills required for a successful career in Arboriculture.

You will come with a full Class 1 Drivers license and would be desirable a Class 2 license however not essential.
