This investment into autonomous mowing signals a shift toward smarter, safer, and more sustainable service delivery, with autonomous mowers working alongside skilled operators to improve efficiency and consistency on the ground.
Rather than replacing people, the technology enhances how crews operate. Operators will oversee mower activity while completing detail work using battery-powered equipment which reduces noise, vibration, and fatigue, while improving situational awareness and site safety.

Supporting the rollout is a purpose-built, fully branded transport unit designed specifically for the autonomous fleet. Engineered to safely carry and deploy the machines, it also includes integrated storage and solar-supported charging for electric tools. This reinforces CORDE’s commitment to innovation and low-emissions operations.
A big thanks to Colbrook Industries and RC Mowers for helping bring this technology to New Zealand.
CORDE CEO Mathew Havill says the move reflects the organisation’s focus on innovation and bringing the plus.
“This is about doing things better. For our people, our clients, and the communities we serve. Autonomous mowing is a practical step forward that improves safety, lifts efficiency, and positions us for the future of our industry.”

The programme will be highly visible across the network and is expected to attract strong interest from across the sector, as CORDE continues to set the benchmark for modern, forward-thinking infrastructure services.
