Taking the Lead in Autonomous Mowing

CORDE is one of the first in New Zealand to introduce commercial autonomous mowing technology to its operations.

The introduction of autonomous mowing technology marks a significant step forward for the CORDE and the wider open space management industry, as we continues to invest in smarter, safer, and more sustainable ways of working.

A New Era in Mowing

Autonomous mowing represents a major evolution in how open spaces are maintained. These advanced machines are designed to operate efficiently and consistently, supporting crews to deliver high-quality outcomes while improving safety and productivity.

By integrating autonomous mowers into its fleet, CORDE is not replacing people — but enhancing how work is done. Skilled operators will work alongside the technology, overseeing operations, managing site safety, and completing detailed edge work using electric handheld equipment.

This approach allows teams to focus on higher-value tasks while maintaining a strong presence on the ground.

Leading Through Innovation

As an early adopter of this technology, CORDE is setting a new benchmark for innovation in the sector.

This initiative reflects a broader commitment to:

Embracing modern, proven technologies
Delivering better outcomes for clients and communities
Continuously improving safety and operational efficiency

The rollout has been carefully planned to ensure the technology is introduced in a way that aligns with CORDE’s high standards and reputation.

Purpose-Built for Performance

Supporting the deployment is a fully customised transport solution designed specifically for the autonomous mower fleet.

Purpose-built to safely carry two robotic mowing units, the transport setup has been engineered for secure loading, efficient deployment, and daily operational practicality. It also incorporates dedicated storage and charging systems for electric handheld tools, ensuring crews can work seamlessly in the field.

The unit will be highly visible across the network — fully branded to reflect CORDE’s leadership in this space and its commitment to delivering modern infrastructure services.

Safer, Smarter, Sustainable

The move to autonomous mowing also supports CORDE’s focus on safety and sustainability.

Operators will use battery-powered handheld tools, reducing noise, vibration, and fatigue while enabling greater awareness of their surroundings. This enhances on-site safety while improving the overall working environment.

In addition, integrated solar charging capabilities within the transport unit will help reduce reliance on external power sources and support lower-emission operations.

Setting the Standard

This investment positions CORDE at the forefront of a shift that is expected to reshape the industry in the coming years.

By taking a proactive approach and leading from the front, CORDE is not only improving how it delivers services today — but helping define what the future of open space maintenance looks like in New Zealand.
