CORDE was initially engaged by Selwyn District Council for Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) to assist to provide input to achieve the best design solution.
The pipeline consisted primarily of 375mm PVC pipe installed by open trench methodology. 450mm steel sleeves were thrusted beneath State Highway 1, State Highway 73 and two KiwiRail crossings with thrusted sleeves sliplined with 355mm PE.
New pump stations were installed in both Darfield and Kirwee with modifications also completed at Pines Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Key timing milestones were met, including achieving expenditure of government funding as well as the pipeline being installed and operational by required dates.
The project is recognised as achieving 100% Environment Compliance. Works were completed to associated ECan consent conditions. Approximately 25% of the pipeline was installed in lizard habitats with controls always in place to ensure no harm.
