The contract encompassed the following scope of activities:

Participating in a pre-construction meeting with ECan and the Principal’s Representatives

Procuring and supplying all necessary materials, equipment, skilled labour, and supervision for the execution of a 200m rock revetment seawall

Implementing environmental controls in strict accordance with the Resource Consent conditions and adhering to the highest environmental standards

Establishing temporary traffic management measures essential for the smooth progress of the project

Extending the existing stormwater pipes through the wall to connect with the frontal surface of the newly installed rock rip rap protection

Due to the deteriorated state of the existing seawall, CORDE undertook necessary minor improvements as a contract variation to prevent any potential collapse of the retaining wall during the construction phase.

Among the measures implemented to address this concern, we opted for the utilisation of a smaller excavator on the roadside. This strategic decision aimed to minimise point loading and mitigate the risk of structural instability. Consequently, we adjusted our methodology by introducing a foreshore excavator to compensate for the reduced reach of the excavator used on the roadside. The job achieved a PACE Score of 83%.
